Do we need to join WW or can we do this on our own? What is it about WW that works so well? I think it's the following...
1. Group accountability (which we have here)
2. Excellent balanced food plan
3. Emphasis on meetings for sharing and talking (which we can do here)
4. Focus on exercise and activity, not just cutting back on food intake
I think it's a healthy plan and I like it, but the facts are that the second you go off it, you gain it all back. I'm a sad testimony to that fact. I do have some good WW documents to share though, so here they are.
I highly suspect that the second you change any lifestyle plan, and revert back to old ways, the weight comes back. It was like that for me with Atkins (and let me tell you, I *loved* Atkins, hard as it was), it was like that for me with Slim-Fast.
Thanks for the files, though. I'll definitely check them out!
Absolutely. I have more where that came from - and I know that Penny has a great Excel speadsheet that works out points values. Maybe she can post it here too.
Bodybugg! I got the Bodybugg and it made all the difference in the world.
I never was the on again/off again...I'm all on or all off. After some stressful times, I just stopped caring and got fat...and I was ok with being fat.
Then, I got too fat and realized that I was miserable and unhappy and couldn't comfortably do all the things I wanted to do.
I joined a gym - got a trainer, but there was an assumption that I was burning off what I ate - even though I lowered my intake....
I got the bugg...and found that I wasn't even close! Now I can see it all - as long as I log my food.
So, now I work out more and have learned to LOVE IT!!!
I would LOVE to try the bodybugg for just a week or 2 to see what my body is really doing! lol! I looked into purchasing one and was shocked at the price!!! --But from what I can tell, it's an amazing little thing! :D Very cool that you got it. --How did you find out about it? They were all wearing one on the Biggest Loser!
Court
I totally want to do this. I fell in love with it on Biggest Loser, and then my gym falsely advertised that they would be getting them but then never did. I was so disappointed! What's the best way to get one - ebay? Or directly through the body bugg site?
I'm a firm believer that anything can work as long as you're actually *ready*. However, if you are using something that's not feasable to do for the rest of your life, that's obviously not going to work. We are doing it with just plain diet and exercise. We stick somewhere around 1200 calories per day and workout SEVEN days a week. My friends and I were talking about WW last night and they think it's bunk. Who knows!
